Saying about being creative...

In the recent manhunt episode of Mas Selamat, telcos have also joined in the hunting race, sending pictures of Mas Selamat via MMS. It seems people are trying their best using every means to alert public on this recent spade.

Just like in TVs and movies, the conventional 'Wanted Man' pictures of the escaped detainee, are being splashed all around the island. At bustops, MRT stations, bus terminals and just everywhere, to catch the public eye and hoping someone will alert the police.

The boring pictures from the police.

By staring at those boring 'Wanted' posters, do you think people will take notice? How long will we remember about Mas Selamat? 1 week? 2 weeks? Maybe 1 month the most. Then after that, we will go back doing our normal routines.

Singapore is always talking about being hip and creative. A place where people should think out of the box. So, why didn't the police take the initiative to be more outstanding and creative when spreading public awareness besides giving blunt and boring message to the public?

Browsing thru blogs, I could find some talented citizens who interestingly developed their own "Wanted" posters of Mas Selamat. Creatively designed, they are quite an eye-catcher to the public. It does look cute and funny but on the other hand, these are more the kind that will stick in people's mind for sometimes.

These are just some that I found. I believe there are still more interesting ones out there.

Too many academicaly inclined people in the government will result in too many boring protocols. We need creative ones!

ps: By now, the limping man, Mas Selamat must be saying "Catch me if you can!"

"A Petai a day keeps the doctor away"

Someone slipped this email to me...

Petai

ADVICE FROM UKM MEDICAL DOCTOR

Little did you know ......
after reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at petai
in the same way again!

Petai contains three natural sugars -sucrose, fructose and glucose.

Combined with fiber, petai gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proved that just two servings of petai provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder petai is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way petai can help us keep fit.

It can also help overcome or preven a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND among people suffering
from depression, many felt much better after eating petai. This is because
petai contains tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS(premenstrual syndrome):
Forget the pills - eat petai. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anaemia:
High in iron, petai can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the
blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the petai industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power :
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through
their exams this year by eating petai at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including petai in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a petai milkshake, sweetened with honey. The petai calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn:
Petai has a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating petai for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness :
Snacking on petai between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites :
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of the petai skin. Many people find it amazingly successful
at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Petai is high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight:
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
Petai is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control :
Many other cultures see petai as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Holland, for example, pregnant women eat petai to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) :
Petai can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan.

Smoking:
Petai can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium petai snack.

Strokes:
According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, " eating
petai as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%".

Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a
wart, take a piece of petai and place it on the wart. Carefully hold the petai in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, as you can see, petai really is a natural remedy for many ills.

When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,

"A Petai a day keeps the doctor away".

ps: ...I don't think I can even swallow!

Thank you for making me feel special..but i don't think I am.

"Ur special.seri0usly."

The text message appeared...and I'm dumbfounded.

Amazingly, I didn't expect that compliment at all. I don't fit the bill, seriously. Am I that special? Why am I so special?

I have to admit that, this is not the first time happening. I am completely puzzled over things that had turned out. I was hoping for a blissful and sincere friend relationship with women I got to know, but sometimes circumstances changed the whole scenario.

Have I been too nice, too sweet, too accommodating that I had advertently giving everyone a wrong impression? If that's the case, then ladies, I am deeply sorry to have caused the stir. I don't want to be accused of giving false hope.

I do not want to hurt you, nor do I want to hurt the friendship. But, we have to set our emotional boundaries straight.

Why it always landed like this with the opposite gender I met?

I don't mean any harm, but yet, why must they harm themselves?

Human emotions are very complicated, I concur. It double the takes when you are not only dealing with your own emotion, but also others.

ps: I shall forget the things you've said just now and I am sorry if I have hurt your feelings. Whatever it is, I am still here to be your friend.

Am I beautiful?

As the saying goes, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Define "beauty" : (n) The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.

But what really is the perception of a person’s beauty? No one can precisely described the true meaning. Beauty itself is subjective.

Bagiku, itulah erti kecantikan yg sempurna…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rita menelefon aku suatu hari.

“I ada rahsia nak katakan pada you. Can you keep a little secret?” kata-kata Rita yg menyinggah ke cuping telinga ku ini.

“Eh, sounds serious nie? Ermm..you trust me?” aku meminta kepastian jika dia benar ingin memberitahu ku rahsia itu.

“I recently met this guy..hmm..baru jer kenal. I nak mintak pandangan dari you, from a guy’s persepective.” jelas Rita.

Gugup, gementar, cuak, cemas…mcm-mcm lah yg Rita rasa kan . Ketika asyik dilamun khayalan menantikan kehadiran Husin, tetiba muncul seorang jejaka berdiri segak dihadapan Rita. Secara jujur, mereka tidak pernah mengenali wajah masing-masing, tapi mungkin arus naluri mereka yg kuat, mereka seolah tahu siapa diantara mereka.

"So how was he? Handsome ke?" aku mencelah kaypoh.

“Oohhh…not bad looking. It’s beyong my expectation.” Rita dgn nada gediknya. “He’s tall, well-built and quite a good looking.” pujian Rita lagi.

“Infact, for the first 2 minutes, it was just silence between us. We just smiled at each other until he break the ice.” ujar Rita sambil membayangkan keadaan ketika perjumpaan itu.

“It was a good date. He’s well-mannered and I’m very comfortable with him. He’s very sincere and he laid his objectives well. So, that’s why I think this has to be the best dating game I’ve been so far.”

“I hope that would not be the last time we met.” Rita ungkap keraguan hati kecilnya. “I think he's my best choice at the moment. Would really want to meet him again.”

“So, why not you set the next date. I think that would be fair, right?” jelas ku.

"He’s seldom here lah, that’s why. We SMS to keep in touch, but now he seldom reply to me. Kenapa ek? Maybe he's too busy? I tried to keep cool and not to be so pushy..but I really don’t want to loose him.” Rita mula menampakan keserasianya terhadap Husin, tidak seperti jejaka lain yang pernah diketemukan sebelum ini.

Aku mengerti perasaan wanita. Bah kan ianya satu perasaan semula jadi setiap manusia.

“I’m not sure if it’s infatuation. I’m too old for that I think. I bukan budak remaja lagi.” jelas Rita. “Or maybe.... I’m not as attractive as he might has expected tak?”

“That would be another matter, if you both are not thinking maturely. WE are not talking about infatuation or puppy love or whatever for this instance," aku cuba mententeramkan gelora dihati Rita.

“You are just as perfect. Why be so self-inferior?” jelas aku lagi. “You have to be confident about yourself. You have to feel good about yourself. To be that way, you have to know deep beneath about yourself and be sincere about this relationship.”

“SIGH!” Rita mengeluh. “I don’t want to fail this relationship. If it fails again...I'll not commit to love anymore. Maybe, I’m not the type he’s looking for...I tak cantik.”

"Look Rita, you are just perfect yourself. Tiada cacat celanya. Why you worry about that?” Aku memujuk Rita yg mula merasa ragu tentang keyakinan pada dirinya.

Dulu, Anida juga pernah mengungkapkan tentang perkara ini kepada ku. Begitu juga bersama Cikgu Nadirah ketika kami 'berchatting online' dahulu. Adakah lelaki semua hanya melihat dasar kecantikan wanita itu dari segi paras rupa saja?

“So wat do you think, Zue? Am I beautiful?”

It’s a little naïve if you love someone just because of the gorgeous looks. The true beauty lies beneath oneself and its when the inner beauty shines, the true beauty of oneself shows.

Everyone is a beauty to the Creator. So you are beautiful too...
(Above is a true story...but Rita is not her name.)

You're beautiful
